SCENE All of Big Bird's friends greet him as they pass by. Chris serves him a bowl of Birdseed soup on a cold day. Freddy Flapman (Lin-Manuel Miranda), a bird real estate agent, hears Big Bird feels cold and offers his services. He explains that a lot of birds migrate and that he should too. Using his "real estate magic", he takes them on a virtual tour of the beach. He raps about the positives and shows that birds like seagulls and pelicans live there. Big Bird, however, declines and goes off on his way.

SCENE cont'd In his nest, Gordon arrives with a warm blanket to keep him warm. Freddy appears once again, this time trying to convince Big Bird to move to the rainforest. After the virtual tour, Freddy assumes Big Bird will turn him down again, but Big Bird actually likes the rainforest and would like to move there, much to Gordon's surprise.

SCENE cont'd Big Bird finishes packing and walks down the street, saying goodbye to all his friends (including Maria, Luis, Gabi, Susan, Gordon, Chris, Alan, Leela, Gina, Elmo, Barkley, Bob, Zoe, Rosita, and Abby Cadabby), who object to him leaving. He comforts them, believing they'll be able to play and visit everyday, until he learns that rainforest is too far from the city for them to visit that often. He realizes that Sesame Street is where he belongs and sings about it. After the song, Freddy accepts defeat as everyone heads into Hooper's to celebrate. Snuffy welcomes Big Bird back home.

The class plays with Niblet, the class pet. It's Gonnigan's turn to hold him, but he's to afraid to and disappears. Blogg then tries to and Niblet steals his wand. After a chase, he runs into a crayon drawing n the wall. However, they are unable to get inside. Spot shows them videos of doors, which gives them the idea to use a door. After twinkle-thinking, Abby realizes the drawing is Gonnigan's and he can draw a door on it. Once inside, they try and follow him, but he draws a river between them. Abby draws a pumpkin to get them across, but Gonnigan adds a sail. Once on the river, Niblet re-draws it as the top of a mountain. Gonnigan adds wheels to get down to him, but Niblet draws a second hill, causing them to slide back and forth between them. Niblet escapes the drawing and heads into his Gerblecorn hole. They try opening it with a spell (rhyming "door" with "Zsa Zsa Gabor"), but find out magic can't open it. They sob at the idea of never seeing Niblet again, which brings him out of his hole. He gives Blogg his wand back and has Gonnigan hold him. Mrs. Sparklenose rewards them (and the viewer) with a gold star.

Bert and Ernie disguise themselves as Veronica's sheep cousins and meet them by the pond. Rubber Duckie suggests that they get Malty to swim, and then maybe he'll quack. Ernie pushes Bert in the pond and Malty saves him, but he does not quack and flies off. Later, they follow him through the town and listen for him after losing him. They also find Veronica has followed them. They hear whistling and follow the sound, leading to Malty's house. He confesses to being a Black-Bellied Whistling Duck, and explains he pretended to be a Maltese duck so she would be his friend. They all celebrate by whistling.

Notes

  • The stickers on Big Bird's suitcase reference the various places he's visited in previous years: Hawaii in 1978, Puerto Rico in 1979, China in 1983 and Montana in 1991.
  • Caroll Spinney performs Big Bird for most of the Street story, but in chroma key shots when the habitat sets appear, Matt Vogel puppeteers Big Bird to Spinney's vocals. The same applies for the song at the end of the story.
  • Kermit the Frog makes a cameo in Elmo's World: Frogs, his first new appearance on Sesame Street since 2001.
